Spiritual Credibility

This morning I want to share about SPIRITUAL CREDIBILITY! Matters of credibility are matters of consistency, humility, objectiveness, and above all matters of the truth.

Credibility is further defined as, “the quality of being trusted and believed in.” I was thinking about spiritual credibility this morning and the Spirit of the Lord led me to this amazing account;

Mark 11:27-33

“[27] Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him.

[28]They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?”

[29] “I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer one question,” Jesus replied.

[30] “Did John’s authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human? Answer me!”

[31] They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John.

[32] But do we dare say it was merely human?” For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet.

[33] So they finally replied, “We don’t know.” And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.”

Reading through those verses you realize that both the message (baptism) and the messenger (John) were authentic hence credible. The credibility of John together with his message made him a point of reference for heaven and earth. Just mentioning his name and ministry was enough to silence the learned friends in the names of Teachers of Religious Law!

I am reminded of what happens in our earthly Courts here; during hearings, lawyers of both the plaintiff and the defendant are required to quote some authorities. These authorities can form the basis upon which the judge or the jury make their judgments. Am told it’s something to do with the law of precedence.

My prayer is that both our message and we the messengers will be incredibly credible. By God’s grace I pray that our ministry and reputation in ministry here on earth will form a precedence upon which both heaven and earth can refer to silence those who argue first then reason later.

My prayer is that we shall always STRIVE TO BE AS CREDIBLE AS THE LORD OUR GOD!
